F1 Canadian GP: Ferrari brings turbocharger upgrades to Montreal

Ferrari has continued its extensive development token spend at the start of the 2016 season by using two more to introduce a revised power unit with upgrades to its turbocharger for Canada.

The Italian manufacturer is looking to bounce back from underwhelming results in Monaco at the high-speed Montreal circuit and has upped its token spending from 26 to 28 for the Canadian Grand Prix.

Both drivers will receive the revised turbo in Canada which is hoped to close the gap in power and performance to Mercedes. With its token spend up to 28, Ferrari has just four remaining for the rest of the year.

Ferrari will be looking to reassert itself as Mercedes main challengers after Red Bull closed to within nine points in the F1 world constructors' championship.

Elsewhere, Honda is set to also introduce a new turbo update in Canada to mark its first use of tokens in 2016 and will have 12 to use for the remainder of 2016.

Mercedes still has 11 left to use, while Renault - which spent three on its engine upgrade for Monaco - has 21 tokens remaining.
