F1 British GP: Ocon leads Raikkonen on second morning of Silverstone test

Esteban Ocon has led proceedings on the second morning of the in-season F1 test at Silverstone ahead of Kimi Raikkonen and Pierre Gasly.

Aiming to make the most of the dry and sunny conditions with rain showers forecast for the afternoon, Ocon has headed the timesheet in the Mercedes W07 with a best time of 1m 31.212s - fractionally faster than Fernando Alonso's top time from Tuesday.

Raikkonen, one of only four F1 race drivers in the second day of the test, took P2 on the timesheet 1.5 seconds back on Ocon with Gasly in the Red Bull moving up to third late in the session with a quicker lap.

Jolyon Palmer enjoyed a productive session compared to his frustrating maiden British Grand Prix at the weekend notching up 51 laps in fourth.

McLaren-Honda's reserve driver Stoffel Vandoorne has taken over from Fernando Alonso for day two and notched up half a century of laps to end the morning fifth quickest.

Haas development driver Santino Ferrucci continued for his second day of running setting up 59 laps but only a handful of timed ones having spent the majority of the session completing pit stop practices.

Fellow F1 youngster Nikita Mazepin enjoyed another flawless session for Force India setting 31 laps in seventh ahead of debutant Sergio Sette Camara in the Toro Rosso, who suffered a half-spin on the home straight but was able to recover.

Pascal Wehrlein continued his Pirelli tyre tests notching up the most laps of any driver, 61, without troubling the top times, with Williams' Valtteri Bottas and Manor's Jordan King who completed a long stint of aerodynamic work.
