F1 Brazilian GP: History on Rosberg’s side ahead of crunch Brazilian GP

Nico Rosberg says he has no plans to deviate from his 'one race at a time' approach as he heads to the Brazilian Grand Prix knowing a win will be enough to seal a first 2016 F1 World Championship title.

Though he struggled to match Lewis Hamilton in Austin and Mexico City on pure pace, a brace of second place finishes behind his main title rival gives him a 19 point deficit coming into the final two rounds in Brazil and Abu Dhabi.

With only 18 points awarded for second place, if Rosberg wins at Interlagos he will be crowned champion with a race in hand.

Furthermore, the German has a stronger record than Hamilton in Brazil having beaten him in both 2014 and 2015, while it is just one of two circuits on the current calendar - along with Baku - that the Briton has never won a race at.

Even so, Rosberg is refusing to keep his eye strictly on the big prize, choosing to simply performing to his best in Brazil whether it proves good enough for the title or not.

"It's cool to be in that situation, but I'm not going to change my approach because that's what feels best. I need to do what feels best and where I can perform at my best. That's the way it's going to be.

"I don't think about the title. There's still two races to go, anything can happen in the sport so why waste energy on something like that? I'll just be in the moment and that's it, but I will be happy to win in Brazil I can answer that."
