F1 Bahrain GP: Pirelli reveals Bahrain GP tyre selections

Pirelli has announced the choices made by each team and driver for the number of tyre sets and compounds for the Bahrain Grand Prix, with team-mates mirroring selections expect for Toro Rosso and Haas.

Due to new tyre regulations, choices on compounds for long-haul races are made by Pirelli 14 weeks ahead of the race and opted to bring the medium, softs and super-softs for the first race of the season in Bahrain. The super-softs tyres must also be used in Q3 while the soft and medium compounds are mandatory to run at some point during the race.

At Mercedes Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg, who opted for different selections for Australia, have picked an identical tyres and while selections differ between teams the majority of team-mates have copied one another.

The Ferrari pair of Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen have opted for a more conservative approach with two additional sets of mediums compared to Mercedes, with the German manufacturer picking the minimum one medium set to maximise its allocation with six softs and six supersofts sets for each driver.

At Toro Rosso Carlos Sainz and Max Verstappen have split strategies with the Dutch driver sacrificing a set of medium tyres for a maximum seven sets of soft compounds, while Sainz has picked two mediums and six softs.

Haas is the only the team with a differing strategy between drivers with Romain Grosjean taking two mediums, four softs and seven supersofts, while Esteban has opted for a more aggressive selection with one medium, five softs and seven supersofts.
