Excited and curious Herczig gets set for ERC season
Norbert Herczig says he’s “very excited and very curious” to be giving the Volkswagen Polo GTI R5 its FIA European Rally Championship debut.
Herczig will drive one of the all-new German machines in the eagerly-awaited 2019 ERC season having switched from ŠKODA power during the winter.
Still competing under the MOL Racing Team banner and run by Baumschlager Rallye & Racing, Herczig is embarking on his second ERC campaign with co-driver and fellow Hungarian Ramón Ferencz.
“We are very excited for this season to start because we are very curious about how we can use the routine from last year in the new season,” said Herczig, the four-time Hungarian champion. “Fortunately we were already able to drive with the new Volkswagen Polo GTI R5 on gravel and before the season starts we will be able to organise a longer test in Hungary.”
Herczig placed sixth in last year’s ERC standings with standout podiums in Greece and Cyprus.
