Cais is top of the ERC Junior Czech mates
Erik Cais finished the Azores Rallye as the top Czech finisher in the FIA ERC3 Junior Championship.
Competing on the spectacular gravel event for the first time, the ex-downhill mountain bike racer, placed fifth in the Pirelli-supported co-driver alongside new co-driver Jindřiška Žáková.
“This rally was wild, a bit like Jurassic Park!,” said the Autoclub of the Czech Republic-backed driver, who was competing in the new Ford Fiesta R2T. “It was really difficult for me because everything was new, new car, new co-driver, new event. And with a new car and co-driver it’s not always easy to listen to the pacenotes.
“It’s my second time on gravel so far but I think we did a great job and next time will be better and better because we have more confidence in the car. The rally was a lot of fun but much more difficult than expected, even though I enjoyed it a lot.”
