Breen hints at imminent WRC return

Five weeks after Rally Sweden, his one confirmed WRC outing this year for the Abu Dhabi Total World Rally Team, Craig Breen has revealed he doesn't have long to wait until a second appearance with the squad.

The Irishman impressed on the snowy roads of Sweden, securing eighth place on his debut in a DS 3 World Rally Car and taking a third fastest time on one stage.

Keen to prove his potential to Citroën Racing ahead of the team's WRC return in 2017, Breen told WRC Live presenter Becs Williams that another opportunity was coming his way soon.

"I know when I'm going out again, and it's not going to be too much longer. Hopefully we can do something similar or even better than we did in Sweden," he said.

The Abu Dhabi Total team will miss the upcoming round in Argentina but is expected to be represented at the following Vodafone Rally de Portugal [19 - 22 May].

Entries close on 19 April and Breen said he could understand why the team wouldn't rush to confirm its rally plans.

"I know what's happening [with my programme] but the 2017 car is the team's priority this year and there's a lot of testing involved. Announcing maybe one or two events in advance gives them the flexibility to chop and change drivers to fit the testing schedule."
