Birthday boy Sirmacis has just one wish for ERC Azores

The FIA European Rally Championship's latest winner Ralfs Sirmacis turns 22 today, and his sole wish for next week's Azores Airlines Rallye is to triumph once more.

Sirmacis had a victorious debut at the top level of the ERC (and first event in R5 machinery) on the SEAJETS Acropolis Rally earlier this month, having raised eyebrows beforehand when he said he wanted to win. For the Azores, another victory is the only thing on the young Sports Racing Technologies driver's mind.

"We are going to the Azores Rallye with only one thought: to win it!" said the Latvian, who drives a ŠKODA Baltic Motorsport-backed Fabia R5.

Unlike Greece, Sirmacis competed in the Azores in ERC Junior in 2015: "We have been there before, so we have a little bit of knowledge about the stages, the surface and what to prepare for. That is a big bonus for us and we will try to use it as well as we can. Studying the previous recce notes, videos and analysing other top drivers' performance from last year will improve our own result."
