Ambitious programme for Jourdan Serderidis in 2014

Friday, 18. 10. 2013 - 16:18, Zdenka Frývaldská

Ambitious programme for Jourdan Serderidis in 2014

The passion for rallying knows no boundaries. Of Greek origin, having lived in Belgium for many years and running a Luxembourg company, Jourdan Serderidis has decided to take on a major challenge in 2014. He will in fact be competing in 11 rounds of the World Rally Championship - contesting the WRC 2 category at the wheel of his Ford Fiesta R5.

A regular in the FordFiesta SportTrophy since 2012, it was late in the day that Jourdan Serderidis discovered he had a passion for rallying. "I'm a ‘young' driver with basically only one a half years of experience in the discipline," a smiling Jourdan commented. "My initial run at the wheel of a rally car was quite a revelation. Quite obviously in the first instance my ambition is to progress in this field. However I'm progressing as one who takes his responsibilities seriously, 49 years old and never been a wild adventurer. My debut was in a small Honda Civic followed by a Ford Fiesta R2, I have decided to continue my progress at the wheel of a Ford Fiesta R5."

Having discovered the gravel during the ninth round of the European Championship in the Rally of Poland, Jourdan will this year be competing in the Rallye du Condroz as well as the final round of the WRC at Wales Rally GB, which will be his baptism of fire at a world level. "I want to give it my all and I have even adjusted my work time in order to tackle the defined programme in collaboration with TeamFloral. Namely the ten European rounds of the World Championship and Rally Australia in the WRC 2 category. We will also be competing in various events on ‘home ground', such as the Rallye des Ardennes, the Rallye de Wallonie, the Rallye de la Famenne and the Rallye de Luxembourg."

On the level of sporting ambitions, Jourdan remains obviously realistic: "WRC 2 should be of an even higher level in 2014 with the presence of ambitious young drivers competing in this championship serving as apprenticeship for the WRC. And up against them I will as an amateur try to progress race by race. Just as I have done since my debut. And my scope to progress is huge. I want to tackle this programme in a serious manner because given the pace of these great events it will be far from being a holiday. I also want to fine-tune my physical condition to be fully ready for the start of the Monte-Carlo. December will be taken up with establishing the logistics programme, together with the chosen co-driver and TeamFloral. These rallies are one of life's experiences. Together with TeamFloral we have every ambition of progressing together. In my eyes I believe it is vital to be able to work in full trust. And this trust is mutual between us and TeamFloral."
