A festival of Infiniti at Goodwood
From the Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge powering up the Goodwood Hill to the latest models for visitors to enjoy, plus guest appearances by some very special VIPs, Infiniti's presence at this year's Goodwood Festival of Speed over the weekend was a resounding success. With truly something for everyone, Infiniti was front-of-mind for many of the 50,000 car fanatics who packed the grounds of Goodwood House in Sussex, UK, on each of the four days of the world's biggest and famous motoring garden party.
On the hillclimb, it was full speed ahead for the 568PS twin-turbo Q50 Eau Rouge Prototype as Infiniti's super-saloon made its long-anticipated dynamic debut. With F1 ace Sébastien Buemi and Infiniti Red Bull Racing team principal Christian Horner taking turns behind the wheel, the stunning concept showed just how passionate and provocative Infiniti is about the high performance luxury car. At the Moving Motor Show, enthusiastic crowds queued for a chance to drive the new Infiniti Q50 models up the famous hill, with a lucky few even savouring a drive in the ultra-exclusive Infiniti FX Vettel Edition - the limited edition V8 crossover developed with the four times F1 World Champion Sebastian Vettel, who is also Infiniti's Director of Performance.
And in the Infiniti Pavilion, it was open house for all. Visitors could explore a range of Infiniti models on show, treat themselves to goodies from the Infiniti Red Bull Racing boutique and also enjoy spectacular views across the estate from the huge roof terrace. And the finishing touches? Music courtesy of the F1 team's DJ Erok and the perfect cooling Eau Rouge cocktail made especially for the occasion! Inside the pavilion, Infiniti's grandest yet at the Festival of Speed, VIPs and guest stars lined up to entertain the crowds. A highlight on Saturday was a question and answer session with Christian Horner, which provided fascinating insights into not just F1 but also the Eau Rouge and its chances of production.
On Sunday Infiniti stayed true to form and shattered convention by letting Festival of Speed favourite Dougie Lampkin loose on the stand. Always a hit with the fans, Dougie has in the past ridden his trail bike across Goodwood House's roof, and his exploits with Infiniti over the weekend proved just as spectacular.
"The Festival of Speed attracts some of the world's most passionate enthusiasts - exactly our sort of people in other words," said Infiniti Europe Vice President Francois Goupil de Bouillé. "To be able to share this event with them, and introduce for the first time in Europe the Q50 Eau Rouge running prototype, was therefore brilliant - but even better to get such a positive reaction from everyone!"
