A close fight in ERC2 in Greece after Chuchała’s early scare

Wojciech Chuchała leads again in the ERC2 class after the first three stages of the SEAJETS Acropolis Rally, but the Subaru Poland Rally Team star is having a much harder time in Greece.

For the first time this season, somebody other than Chuchała took an ERC2 stage win on SS1, with Péter Ranga 3.3 seconds quicker through the opening test after the 2014 Polish champion spun.

A degree of normal service was resumed on the following two tests with Chuchała moving ahead, but Ranga - who finished second in class on his last ERC appearance on Gran Canaria - is only 16.7s behind.

Ranga's fellow Hungarian Tibor Érdi - who led the class until the final road section on the Acropolis in 2014 - benefitted from problems for others to climb to third on SS2. Jose Luis Jacquet Rios has enjoyed a clean morning in his first ever rally outside of Paraguay to hold fourth.

Fifth is Giacomo Scattolon, who fell from third when he lost three minutes with a gearbox problem in SS2. Argentina's Juan Carlos Alonso stopped out of fourth on that stage and could not continue.
