24H Le Mans - Hour 23

With just one hour to go in the 80th 24 Hours of Le Mans, there has been an explosive turn of events at the front of the field which saw the race-leading No.2 Audi R18 e-tron quattro hit the barriers at the Porsche Curves and lose its place to its sister Audi Hybrid.

This happened within a lap of Marc Gene going off in the No.3 Audi R18 ultra - and that was at the same place Dumas went off yesterday afternoon. The No.17 Pescarolo Sport Dome Judd is planning to do the minimum laps possible so that the team's many local fans have something to cheer about.

In LMP2, 12 of the 20 cars are still circulating which is a terrific achievement for both the teams involved as well as their technical partners in this privateer class. The best placed is the No.44 Starworks entry followed by the Thiriet by TDS Racing Oreca Nissan, just ahead of Pecom Racing entry. In the production-led GTE class the No.59 Luxury Racing Ferrari 458 Italia would need a huge amount of luck to displace the class leading AF Corse Ferrari, but there's every chance that the Larbre Competition Corvette can once again pass its nearest rival, a Porsche, for victory.
