Workshop, testing and preview WTCC 2014 Tom Coronel Roal Motorsport Cruze TC1
Workshop, testing and preview WTCC 2014 Tom Coronel Roal Motorsport Cruze TC1 Tom Coronel visits his second home country, Italy and boats the canals of Venice before heading to the workshop of Roberto Ravaglia's ROAL Motorsport. The Chevrolet Cruze TC1 car gets a test at the Adria International Circuit in Italy before the first round of the World Touringcar Championship FIA WTCC in Marrakech, Morocco in 2 weeks from now. For the 4th year in a row, Italy is my second home. Welcome to Venice! But we're not on holiday here in Italy... let's go to the workshop of ROAL Motorsport. Here it is, the headquarter of ROAL Motorsport. In the office of the boss, Roberto Ravaglia. Here it is, the beast for 2014, the WTCC, my Chevrolet Cruze TC1. ROAL Motorsport is also running with 3 GT cars in the GT championships... one of their drivers is Alex Zanardi. The mechanics make the last checks, then the car goes in the truck... because we have testing in Adria. It is build very precise, it looks muscular. It's wider, bigger and we have more horsepower this year. The car is lower this year, the car is lighter. The bigger rear wing makes a cool impression. It has been the World Champion the last 3 years... I always wished to drive this car and now it's going to happen! First impression, it's a big difference with the rear wheel drive BMW. It's not that you go on the throttle and you play with the rear... it wants to wash out on the front. I've driven front wheel driven cars with SEAT and started my career in the Citroen AX cup. It's nice to feel a muscular car, a faster car, a more grippy car. I need to do some more laps, we didn't do much testing. But I'll be fine this year. To start in Marrakech on a street-circuit is maybe not the best way to start. We didn't do a lot of milage so I don't feel 100% comfortable with the car. That's the way it is. It has long straights, a few chicanes and 2 medium-speed corners. Very bumpy. It should be ok. I have to be careful not to crash. If you crash there you have big difficulties for the next races.
