The action was no less frenetic for the early laps of the Chichester Cup. A mere 1.6 seconds covered the first 11 cars on the grid, the majority of them swamping pole man David Methley - who made a particularly tardy start in his Brabham BT6. Jon Milcevic took immediate advantage with his Cooper T59 with Stuart Hughes (Brabham) and Sam Wilson (Lotus) chasing him hard.
