WTCR points treble cheers Vernay
Jean-Karl Vernay kept up his pursuit of the WTCR - FIA World Touring Car Cup presented by OSCARO by scoring points in all three races in Vila Real last weekend.
Vernay was fifth, fourth and P10 in the three races that made up WTCR Race of Portugal. At the halfway point of the WTCR OSCARO season, the Audi Sport Leopard Lukoil Team driver - a two-time winner in 2018 - is fifth in the standings.
"I scored some good points," the Frenchman said. "My starts were not great but I was able to take fourth [in Race 2]. We are still missing a few things but remain in the fight for the championship, so it's a pretty good weekend overall."
Vernay's team-mate, Gordon Shedden (pictured with Vernay, right), meanwhile, finished Race 1 in ninth from P18 on the grid. However, his hopes of converting his reverse-grid Race 2 DHL Pole Position into a maiden WTCR OSCARO triumph were wrecked by a track limits infringement while leading. He finished sixth but retired from Race 3 with a mechanical failure.
