WTCR leader Tarquini: Macau’s a lottery, everything can happen
Gabriele Tarquini heads to the WTCR - FIA World Touring Car Cup presented by OSCARO season closer in Macau next week leading the standings but mindful of the street venue's fearsome reputation.
Tarquini, the title leader ahead of Yvan Muller by 39 points after 27 races, hasn't tackled the ultra-demanding 6.120-kilometre layout since 2014 and is wary of how quickly a mistake can be punished as he bids to remain on top of the championship pile in his BRC Racing Team Hyundai i30 N TCR.
"I will be concentrating on the title but it's a lottery and everything can happen in Macau," said Tarquini. "You can have trouble and you must survive. It's probably not the best place for me when you have an advantage, probably it's the best race for Yvan [Muller] when he must recover. It's a special and challenging weekend for everybody but I will go there with a smile, thinking about my title dream."
WTCR Race of Macau, which counts for the Suncity Group Macau Guia Race, takes place from 15-18 November. Seven drivers are in title contention.
