WTCC media vote Citroën C-Elysée top car
It was victorious in 57 races, helped José María López to a WTCC title triple and ensured its maker won the FIA World Touring Car Championship for Manufacturers three times.
Now the Citroën C-Elysée WTCC has been voted the best World Touring Car of all time by a panel of expert media.
Representing 18 countries, they were asked to consider their top three cars from 2005-2017 - the period when the championship was promoted by Eurosport Events - with points allocated on a 3-2-1 basis.
The Citroën C-Elysée WTCC claimed a double victory on its debut in 2014, was used to capture 32 poles and 54 fastest laps. It also led for 628 laps, while Mehdi Bennani and Tom Chilton won the WTCC Trophy for independent racers with the car in 2016 and 2017 respectively.
Chevrolet's Cruze 1.6T placed second with 46 points, BMW's 318si scored 25 points with the SEAT León TDI picking up 13 points. Other cars to scored included the Honda Civic, Alfa Romeo 156 and the Chevrolet RML Cruze TC1.
