WRC Tour de Corse - Rallye de France: Ogier takes maiden Corsica win

Volkswagen's Sebastien Ogier has taken his maiden victory on Tour de Corse leading from start-to-finish as he closes on his fourth WRC Drivers' title.

Ogier began the final leg with a 46.5 second advantage, and like on Saturday put in a controlled drive en-route to his second win in a row and his fourth of the season.

He now extends his championship lead from 59 points to 68 with three events to run.

"That feels great and what we wanted this weekend," the Frenchman told the official WRC site.

"This is my first win in Corsica and this is such an historic event. The championship smells quite good for us [now too]."

Having dominated the opening day, the Frenchman was never challenged, and he eventually finished 46.4secs up on Hyundai's Thierry Neuville.

"It was a very positive weekend for us, we did a clean run and had a perfect rally. Things are working well with my new engineer," Neuville noted.

Behind, VW Motorsport II pilot Andreas Mikkelsen completed the podium, 23.6secs further back, with Jari-Matti Latvala fourth in his Polo R WRC.

Craig Breen was fifth in his Abu Dhabi WRT-run Citroen DS 3 WRC ahead of Hyundai duo Hayden Paddon and Dani Sordo in sixth and seventh.

M-Sport's Eric Camilli took eighth, with fellow Fiesta RS WRC men Mads Ostberg and Ott Tanak rounding out the top ten.

In WRC2, Elfyn Evans took victory in his final points scoring event of the season, a result that keeps his championship hopes alive. Jan Kopecky was second, 33.3secs adrift, with Yoann Bonato third.

"We did what we had to do," Evans stated. "We had to win to keep the championship hopes alive. The pace has been good and we've had a special edge when we needed it."

The WRC now continues in two weeks with RallyRACC Catalunya - Rally de Espana running from October 13-16.
