WRC stars sign up for Rallyday

WRC front-runners Elfyn Evans, Ott Tänak and Jari-Matti Latvala have been confirmed as star guests at the UK's Rallyday show, which takes place at castle combe circuit on saturday 23 september.

The trio will join past heroes of the sport including 1984 world champion Stig Blomqvist and Colin McRae's co-driver, Nicky Grist.

Evans and two-time rally winner Tänak will drive a Ford Fiesta R5 at the rally celebration, which this year features a special display to commemorate the life of 1995 world champion Colin McRae.

Tänak said: "I was at Rallyday in 2012 and it was a lot of fun with some really nice cars. I'm looking forward to going back again and meeting all the people - it's good to be able to see the fans away from the pressure of the normal rallies.

"With the intensity of the WRC, it's nice every now and then to drive a rally car, have some fun and do some skids - that's what I'm looking forward to doing at Castle Combe."

"Rallyday's definitely one of the highlights of the year away from the WRC," added Evans. "It's a perfect chance to come to an event, meet a lot of old faces and old friends from earlier in the career and have time to chat to them. I missed it last year, so I'm really happy to be back this time."

Latvala, [pictured above] a self-confessed hardcore rally fan, last attended Rallyday in 2010 and is looking forward to making his comeback.

He said: "The best thing about Rallyday is that you get to see these incredible [Group B] supercars and incredible Group A machines from such amazing times in our sport and you don't just get to look at them standing still. You can see the cars coming really fast, you get to see them in action, you get to see them shooting the flames and you get to hear them. This is what I am coming for: I want to see these cars, to hear them and to feel them - this is when you get the passion."
