WRC signs broadcast deal with Red Bull
The World Rally Championship has secured an all-new broadcast contract with Red Bull TV which will host live shows at every rally in 2017.
WRC is set to take a new step into online live broadcasting in partnership with Red Bull which will stream three live shows from Friday to Sunday at every round of the 2017 championship.
The shows, which are described to 'feature all the action as it happens, including a unique highlights round up', will start at the season-opening Rallye Monte Carlo hosted by former F1 star and WEC champion Mark Webber.
The daily show from Friday to Sunday will be available to watch entirely free on Red Bull TV, via mobile, laptop or smart television, or on the Red Bull TV app.
On both Friday and Saturday a round-up show lasting 20-30 minutes will be broadcast at 10pm CET, plus on Saturday the action goes live from midday CET. Sunday evening will show a complete highlights package last 30-40 minutes and all shows will be available on demand on Red Bull TV after the event.
"It's really exciting to know that the WRC will be broadcast on Red Bull TV next year," nine-time WRC champion and Red Bull-backed athlete Sebastien Loeb said. "So fans can have a chance to see the best coverage of some of the rallies when it suits them, which is really great.
"There's always this exciting feeling around Red Bull because they do things differently and I'm sure that this will be the case for the new TV programme as well."
WRC is gearing up for a new-look 2017 with the regulations revamp, while reigning champions Volkswagen Motorsport have withdraw plus Toyota have returned to ensure a change of the driver line-ups.
Defending champion Sebastien Ogier recently confirmed his switch to M-Sport Ford while former Volkswagen team-mate Jari-Matti Latvala has joined an all-Finnish line-up at Toyota.
