Why F1’s new engine regulations for 2021 are regressive

Formula 1's 2021 engine regulations, announced this week, are 'regressive' according to technical expert Craig Scarborough.

In this new video from Motorsport.tv's weekly programme The Flying Lap, Scarborough gives his initial reaction to the new package, which retains the current 1.6-litre V6 turbo hybrid but increases the rev limit and eliminates the MGU-H.

"They've announced this new engine and that's kind of good and bad in the regulations, but it does seem very muddled up," says Scarborough.

"We're not quite sure which direction Formula 1 wants to go."

Scarborough goes on to explain the plans and what they aim to achieve, suggesting it's a backward step for F1.
