All UK national media wishing to attend this year's Wales Rally GB (12-15 November), the concluding round of the 2015 FIA World Rally Championship, are advised that the official Accreditation process is now open. More importantly, perhaps, the final deadline for applications is Wednesday 14 October.
Media Accreditation Guidelines and the official Application Form are attached to this release and also available via the ‘media' navigation on the www.WalesRallyGB.com website. Completed forms should be sent either by email or post to Jonathan Gill, Wales Rally GB National Press Officer (details below).
As in 2013 and 2014, the Media Centre for this year's Wales Rally GB is based within the event's Headquarters and Service Park in Deeside, Flintshire. Once accredited, all media will need to collect their credentials from the Media Office.
This year's Wales Rally GB will build on the huge award-winning success of recent revitalised events. A move to north Wales in 2013 proved to be a huge draw for fans and competitors attracting record numbers of spectators plus a full capacity entry from right around the globe.
The move also generated extensive national and global Media coverage with the impressive form of Northern Ireland's Kris Meeke and rising Welsh rally star Elfyn Evans adding yet more interest to what's always been one of the UK's top sporting attractions. Indeed, earlier this season Meeke ended a 13-year British wait for a WRC winner with victory in Argentina.
The last British victory was Colin McRae's final success, which came in Kenya in 2002 and the late, great McRae will be honoured in Wales in November. It's 20 years since the Scot won Rally GB to be crowned as Britain's first World Rally Champion - a milestone being marked with special displays and parades during this year's event.
The achievements of another multiple Rally GB winner and former World Rally Champion will also be celebrated with Petter Solberg present in Wales as the rally's official Legend.
Building on recent successes, November's revised route features a revised fan-friendly three-day schedule comprising all the classic ingredients that make Wales Rally GB such a fitting finale to the season-long FIA World Rally Championship.
The 19 competitive Special Stages are set on some of the world's finest rally tracks in the legendary Welsh forests, while two stages held in darkness on Saturday evening will increase both the challenge and spectacle.
The itinerary on Saturday includes a family-friendly RallyFest event designed to provide casual rally fans with the opportunity to experience the excitement of world championship action in more accommodating surroundings with enhanced facilities. Sunday's schedule includes the return of the iconic Great Orme stage as well as a relocated Ceremonial Finish in the busy Deeside Service Park.
Advanced tickets are available offering significant discounts for those booking now. What's more, there will again be free access to the WRC excitement at the central Service Park in Deeside as well as the Ceremonial Start in Llandudno Colwyn Bay and Friday regroup in Newtown town centre. Full ticket information can be found on the official www.WalesRallyGB.com website.
Don't miss the Wednesday 14 October deadline for Media Accreditation applications...
