Volkswagen-powered rookies continue WTCR preparations
WTCR / OSCARO rookie racers Johan Kristoffersson and Benjamin Leuchter have been testing in readiness for the 2019 season.
The Volkswagen-powered pair have been in action at the Circuito de Almeria in southern Spain as part of a major testing programme being undertaken by Sébastien Loeb Racing.
“I am very happy with the tests, we have made good progress,” said Swede Kristoffersson, who is switching to the WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup presented by OSCARO as a double FIA World Rallycross champion. “The cooperation with my three team-mates is also excellent.”
ADAC TCR Germany graduate Leuchter added: “I have settled into the team well and got to know my colleagues – there is a good chemistry between us. We have got a lot of kilometres under our belt and stuck to our test schedule.
“As far as I am concerned, it is now important for us to set the car up for the [Yokohama] tyres – that is my top priority. I am full of confidence ahead of the next tests.”
WTCR / OSCARO season two begins in Marrakech, Morocco from 5-7 April.
