Unknowns motivate WTCR racer Michelisz
Norbert Michelisz reckons the challenge he faces driving a new car for a new team in a new series represents a "great motivation".
Hungarian Michelisz has joined the BRC Racing Team to pilot a Hyundai i30 N TCR in the inaugural WTCR - FIA World Touring Car Cup. It follows a lengthy stint as a factory Honda driver in the FIA World Touring Car Championship, which the WTCR replaces from 2108.
"I have the same feeling as I did at the start of my career," said Michelisz, who began his motorsport adventure racing online before winning the WTCC Trophy for independent racers on two occasions. "I'm working with a new team, a new car and in a new championship. It's a new challenge, which is great motivation for me. Last year it was clear the i30 N TCR and BRC Racing Team were the package to beat, so I'm certain we can challenge for wins and the title this season."
Michelisz will start his bid for WTCR title glory on the semi-permanent Circuit Moulay El Hassan in Marrakech, Morocco from 7-8 April. Former WTCC champion Gabriele Tarquini will partner Michelisz in the two-strong BRC line-up.
