Ulrik Linnemann aiming for Euro RX Supercar campaign in 2017

Multiple Super1600 event winner and runner-up in the FIA European Rallycross Championship for Super1600 this season, Ulrik Linnemann, is planning to race full-time in the FIA European Rallycross Championship for Supercar next year, and hopes to announce a deal to drive for an existing team before Christmas.

The Danish driver just missed out on the Super1600 title by a single point at the last round in Germany, but is fully focused on his plans for 2017. "The plan is to race in Euro RX Supercar, I have a good offer at the moment and I hope we can get the deal closed in the coming weeks," said Linnemann. "I want to be in a team that knows Supercar very well. Then I hope I can help with the development side, using my experience of racing in Super1600 for many years."

Linnemann as previous experience of driving rallycross Supercars, he tested Tord Linnerud's Renault Clio in 2014, and more recently drove Drive For Lives' Ford Focus and a Pailler Competition Peugeot 208. "It's hard to say if I've learnt a lot from the cars I have driven, but for sure it does give you something extra to have tried cars before. In my first Supercar season I want to improve race by race. The goal is to be in the semi-finals to fight for a place in finals," he said. "I think you have to be at a very good level to be competitive at the top in Super1600, so I hope I can achieve good results in Supercar like other drivers have before me. It was hard to lose the championship by one single point this year, but for now I am looking for new challenges."

Latvia's Reinis Nitiss and Janis Baumanis, Norway's Andreas Bakkerud and Russia's Timur Timerzyanov are all Super1600 graduates who have progressed to achieve in Supercar. Linnemann hopes to continue running his race-winning Super1600 Peugeot 208 for a young driver next season.
