Tough battles excite WTCR racer Tarquini
BRC Racing Team Hyundai driver Gabriele Tarquini is braced for a "very tough" FIA World Touring Car Cup.
The 55-year-old Italian, World Touring Car champion in 2009, will undertake his first full season of racing since 2016 when he lines up at the season-opening WTCR Race of Morocco driving a Hyundai i30 N TCR.
WTCR promoter Eurosport Events has attracted a capacity 26-car entry and Tarquini can't wait to get amongst it.
"After leading the testing for the i30 N TCR last year I know the car very well," said the former Formula One racer. "This season will be a fantastic opportunity to put the experience both I, and the team, have to compete at the very front of the new championship. I'm looking to a full season of racing once again, competing in what I am sure will be a very tough and competitive championship."
Norbert Michelisz will partner Tarquini at BRC following the Hungarian's switch from the Honda marque for 2018.
