Tom Coronel and David Hart relive the old days with AC Cobra at Goodwood Revival

Tom Coronel and David Hart relive the old days with AC Cobra at Goodwood Revival.

This weekend Tom Coronel will again participate in the beautiful Goodwood Revival event. Together with David Hart he will join the main race of the event, the Royal Automobile Club TT Celebration, in the DHG Racing-team AC Cobra. Last year the racing duo drove the AC Cobra to second place, this year the aim will be ‘victory lane'.

Tom and David have jointly been driving the DHG Racing AC Cobra already for a long time. Last year the couple was present at Goodwood Revival as well, and quite successfully finishing second. More recently the AC Cobra driven by David and Tom participated in the Zandvoort Historic Grand Prix and shortly before that in the VKV City Racing event in Rotterdam. "It's a beautiful car, with 450 hp and zero grip," Tom explains. "During braking you need to release the anchor and employ a parachute, otherwise you don't make it into the turn on time. But to be honest: it's incredibly cool!"

Crème de la crème motorsport heroes present
Tom and David are in very good company during the Royal Automobile Club TT Celebration race at Goodwood Revival. Numerous renowned current and historic motorsport names will surround the duo during the race. Jean Alesi, Henri Pescarolo, Andy Wallace, Rob Huff, Emanuele Pirro, John Hugenholtz, Christian Horner, Anthony Reid, Oliver Gavin... to name just a few of the competitors that will appear on the starting grid next to the DHG Racing couple. Besides the AC Cobra from Tom and David, the field of participating cars is impressive as well, with amongst others various historic Ferraris (250 GT SWB/C, 250 LM, 250 GTO and 330 GTO), Jaguar E-Types, various models from the stables of Aston Martin, a Corvette Sting Ray and even a Maserati Tipo 151. To name just a few...

Despite the fierce competition Coronel and Hart aim for top spot. "Last year Tom and I made it as far as second place. Because we know the AC Cobra very well, we know exactly what we can do with it and what our AC Cobra is capable of. And the wreath and cigars for last year's second spot raised our appetite for more," says David Hart, Tom's co-pilot and also team owner of DHG Racing.

In the meantime Tom is anxious to kick off the weekend. "For me this is the highlight of the year. Goodwood Revival is the world's biggest event for historic cars. You cannot just go there, no, you need to be invited. And you don't get to enter the track in jeans, or wander through the pit lane without a tie... Everything is 100% gentleman style, even the smallest details. The supermarket for instance even sells everything in fifties style. You feel like on the film set of Pearl Harbor, really cool! The event has been completely sold out, with 150,000 visitors a day. Not a single Formula 1 Grand Prix achieves that!"

Program Royal Automobile Club TT Celebration (UK timing)
Friday September 13 04.20pm Free Practice
Saturday September 14 11.55am Qualifying
Sunday September 15 04.20pm Race

The achievements of Tom Coronel and David Hart this weekend can be viewed live through the live stream on the Goodwood Revival website.
