Todt shakes up FIA senior structure

Jean Todt has revealed a new structure of the senior members of the governing body after securing a third term as FIA President.

After securing a third term as FIA President Jean Todt has revealed a new structure of the senior members of the governing body, with Nick Craw being replaced by Brain Gibbons as President of the FIA Senate.

The FIA President was re-elected unopposed at the World Motor Sport Council meeting in Paris this week and will remain in charge until the end of 2021. Todt has tweaked the FIA's senior management with American Craw leaving his President of the FIA post which had held since 2009.

Craw is replaced by Gibbons who had previously acted as FIA Deputy President for Mobility for eight years. The New Zealander helped form his nation's Automobile Association (NZAA) while he has also held financial and management roles in the motor industry and at Boots Pharmaceuticals. Gibbons's former role will be filled by Thierry Willemarck. Graham Stoker will remain as Deputy President for Sport, a post also held since 2009, and work underneath Todt.

"I have encouraged the selection of a leadership team that is a mixture of the experienced and the new," Todt said. "The experienced will ensure we continue to respect our heritage, uphold our values and avoid the pitfalls of the past.

"The new faces will bring fresh, innovative thinking to our Federation. I am particularly pleased that a number of talented women have been nominated for important positions by our clubs. It is a beginning I hope will lead the FIA to embrace greater diversity and recognise and reward talent, wherever it exists."

Todt replaced Max Mosley as FIA President in 2009 after cutting ties to Ferrari as a special advisor in 2008 to ensure he wouldn't suffer any conflict of interests. Todt became Ferrari's general manager in 1993 before being appointed the company's CEO in 2004 until stepping down in 2006.
