Test spy: New VW Polo R5
Volkswagen Motorsport tested its new Polo R5 on gravel roads in Greece last week, as preparations ramp up for the car's debut at RallyRACC Catalunya - Rally de España (25-28 october).
The Polo, which will be eligible for the WRC 2 championship, was driven by reigning WRC 2 champion Pontus Tidemand and 14-time Austrian champion Raimund Baumschlager.
The pair clocked up more than 500km of running during the three-day test from Wednesday to Friday.
A team source told wrc.com its engineers were happy with the Polo's performance and handling on the rough gravel stages.
It's the second gravel test in a month for the new car after Eric Camilli and rising Finnish star Emil Lindholm tested the Polo on smoother, high-speed stages in Finland. Another test is planned in Italy before the car travels to Spain for its competitive debut.
Capturing some of the testing action in Greece were some WRC-supporting YouTubers. We've chosen a selection of our favourite clips courtesy of Dimitris Roumelis and Greek Rally Passion.
