SUPERSTARS set to line up at Brno
The SUPERSTARS INTERNATIONAL SERIES is about to line-up for round 2 of 2013 at the Czech venue of Brno and the challenging 5.4-kilometer natural terrain course is set to provide a perfect environment for the series' top names.
Touring car ace Fabrizio Giovanardi will make his return to the series eager to repeat his 2010 outing that included four wins over six races. He will be in control of a Petri Corse-prepared Porsche Panamera S alongside Massimiliano Fantini.
His opponents won't be less competitive by any means starting from Tonio Liuzzi. The former F.1 driver, who shared wins with team-mate Thomas Biagi at Monza, is ready to back aboard his Mercedes C63 AMG fielded by Team Romeo Ferraris to try and defend his three-point lead in standings over Biagi.
More former F.1 talent will come from Gianni Morbidelli, lining-up on a manufacturer-supported Audi RS5. His team-mate in the Audi Sport Italia stable will be again Ferdinando Geri. Austrian Christian Klien, who cruised to a winning debut last season at the Hungaroring, has joined the BMW camp for Scuderia Giudici. He will be racing a BMW M3 E92 as well as team owner Gianni Giudici.
Young Edoardo Piscopo, who raced at Brno in the 2008 A1 GP championship, will debut under the BMW banner as well with the RGA Sportmanship stable. Another proven winner in Italian open-wheel competition, Luigi Ferrara, will aim for wins on the Roma Racing Team Mercedes C63 AMG Coupé after his double third place finish at Monza.
Chevrolet will provide more spice in terms of the technical challenge with the Camaro racer fielded by Solaris Motorsport for Francesco Sini. He's set to fight, among others, with the classic British machinery of Ferlito Motors. Their two Jaguar XF cars will be brought on-track by "Diabolik" and Andrea Larini. Last but not least, the Chrysler brand, with a 300C SRT8 and Alessandro Battaglin.
BMW will also be well-represented by Team BMW Dinamic with three M3s for Giovanni Berton, Max Mugelli and Mauro Trentin while another Mercedes, the one of Italian Endurance Touring Car champion Andrea Bacci, is set to be a contender for CAAL Racing.
Large crowds are expected on the grandstands and in the paddock, with exciting events including the popular Paddock Show entertainment which features press conferences, victory celebrations and autograph sessions. Fans at home will once again be provided with a worldwide TV coverage. Live broadcasts of the races will be provided in 61 territories. Race 1 will be taking-off on Sunday at 12:00, followed at 16:10 by Race 2.
