SUPERSTARS set to hit the track this weekend at Zolder
A top-class and highly-exciting racing challenge will be the main ingredient for a successful weekend at Zolder, as the SUPERSTARSWORLD will be featuring some great new additions on June 22nd and 23rd for round 4 of the 2013 season.
LOCAL STARS SET THE TONE IN SUPERSTARS
Several local stars will line-up at the top of their game at home. Hasselt-born Laurens Vanthoor will be joining both SUPERSTARS (aboard a works Audi RS5) and GTSPRINT (with the Audi MTM-prepared R8 LMS) and will be challenged by fellow countryman Renaud Kuppens, lining-up on a BMW M3 E92 by Scuderia Giudici. Championship leader Thomas Biagi will be a target for both, as he will be back in control of his manufacturer-supported Mercedes C63 AMG after scoring double second places at Slovakia Ring. On the other hand, current runner-up Giovanni Berton has two wins to his name so far in 2013, and he's set to try and repeat the results scored in Slovakia and at Brno with his Team BMW Dinamic M3 racer.
Former F.1 man Tonio Liuzzi (Mercedes C63 AMG - Mercedes-AMG Romeo Ferraris) is definitely set to be a contender, in an effort to repeat the win scored in Race 1 in Slovakia. A Coupé version of the C63 AMG will be fielded by RRT for Luigi Ferrara, who was also off to a positive start while Gianni Morbidelli, returning on the Audi Sport Italia-prepared Audi RS5, will challenge for his first win of the season after two early podium finishes. The multiple SUPERSTARS champion will face more rivals including Max Mugelli and Mauro Trentin, driving under the Team BMW Dinamic banner, while RGA Sportmanship will provide more Bavarian M3 power for Edoardo Piscopo, joined by Mario Buscemi. On a completely different car philosophy will be the Cadillac CTS-V of Roberto Benedetti, joining the pack in the RC Motorsport stable.
BELGIAN SUPERSTARS ROSTER TO INCLUDE NICOLA LARINI, DOMENICO SCHIATTARELLA, MARCO CASSARÀ
The list of the former F.1 drivers with SUPERSTARS experiences is set to include Nicola Larini, joining Fabrizio Giovanardi on the Petri Corse Porsche Panamera S and Domenico Schiattarella, who will be taming the muscle power of the Solaris Motorsport Chevrolet Lumina and will partner team's regular Francesco Sini, with his brand-new Camaro. A second RRT car will be fielded for Marco Cassarà, while more Mercedes C63 AMG racers will be driven by CAAL Racing's Diego Romanini and Andrea Bacci.
GTSPRINT INTERNATIONAL SERIES LINES-UP FOR ROUND 4
The powerful Grand Touring cars of GTSPRINT are set to be back on-track at Zolder for the many fans on-track and at home. The Audi vs. Lamborghini competition will be the news of the day with Laurens Vanthoor and Dutchman Peter Kox making their debut. The first will share the MTM Audi R8 LMS with Thomas Schöffler, while the latter will be partnering fellow countryman Nico Pronk on a Lamborghini Gallardo LP 600. More GTS3 contenders will be running for Easy Race, with Mario Cordoni and Massimo Mantovani driving a Ferrari 458 Italia, and same-powered Team Ombra Racing entry for Brazilian Fernando Croce. Two proven winners will represent two more world-class manufacturers: Roberto Del Castello, winner of Race 2 at Monza, will be joining the grid on a Corvette Z06.R for RC Motorsport, while championship leader Glauco Solieri is going to be the man to beat in the Autorlando Porsche 997 GT3 R. Another 997 model will be fielded in the GTS Cup Trophy by Heaven Motorsport for the pairing of Colombian Steven Goldstein and Spaniard Antonio De La Reina.
