SUPERSTARS: Petri Corse to field stellar line-up at Zolder

A new former F1 driver is ready to enter the SUPERSTARS WORLD, as Nicola Larini will be on-track next weekend at Zolder on a Petri Corse-prepared Porsche Panamera S.

"I'm sure that my SUPERSTARS experience will be a very interesting one - said Larini - I'm going to drive it for the first time on Wednesday to get some more confidence with it. I'm also happy to be back together with "Piedone" Giovanardi. We're great friends and I think we'll be doing a good job representing a prestigious brand like Porsche.

"In 2010 at Vallelunga I was very impressed by SUPERSTARS and that interest just grew stronger in recent years. This season, despite the general crisis of motorsports, the series is carrying-on well thanks to the work done throughout the years. Now I'm focused on Zolder, which is a technical circuit, particularly hard for the tires. I think Audi will be the manufacturer to beat there."

The Tuscany-based man has a top-notch international roll of honour including 75 F.1 races. In Formula 1 he drove for Coloni, Osella, Ligier, Modena Team, Ferrari (he was the last Italian to score a podium finish for them) and Sauber. Larini also cruised to win the 1992 Italian Superturismo Championship with an Alfa 155 GTA Turbo and the 1993 DTM championship, still under the Alfa Romeo banner. In more recent years, he drove as a factory driver for Chevrolet in the WTCC, where he scored many positive results along the way.

"It's a pleasure to be back racing with Nicola - said Giovanardi - last year we scored a win together in the XP1 class at the 24 Hours of the Nurburgring and we're working hard to get on-top in SUPERSTARS too despite the few time available. I can't make any prediction for Zolder... the track will be the judge".
