Successful weekend for World RX drivers across Europe

In the short break between the fifth round of the FIA World Rallycross Championship in Norway and the sixth round at Holjes in Sweden next week, a number of World RX drivers were in action across Europe last weekend.

In Sweden, Volkswagen RX Sweden driver Johan Kristoffersson continued his campaign in the Swedish Touring Car Championship and qualified on pole position before scoring his first victory of the year, swapping his regular Volkswagen Polo RX Supercar for a Seat touring car at Anderstorp. The Swede had beaten compatriot Richard Goransson in the first race on Sunday, Goransson set to return to World RX action at Holjes next week, with Kristoffersson finishing third behind Goransson in race two.

"I'm happy for the team, they have done an awesome job since the first race of the year and I'm happy to be able to deliver a good result for them as payback," said Kristoffersson, who is joint third in overall the World RX drivers' championship with Peugeot-Hansen driver Sebastien Loeb. "It's almost unreal that we outpaced the Volvo team already in the third event of the season. It's also definitely been good preparation for Holjes too, I'm really looking forward to it!"

Elsewhere, World RX Team Austria driver Janis Baumanis secured his first victory of the season by winning the latest round of the Estonian Rallycross Championship, driving a Ford Fiesta. Euro RX Super1600 racer Janno Ligur won in the front-wheel drive category.

In Germany, ALL-INKL.COM Muennich Motorsport owner and driver Rene Muennich continued the development of the team's Seat Ibiza by winning a joint Belgian and German Rallycross Championship event at the Estering. Munnich's partner, Mandie August, took top honours in the German Championship Supercar category and became the first female winner in the championship, driving one of the team's 2015 World RX Audi S3s.
