Sébastien Loeb will attend the 2014 Goodwood Festival of Speed
Citroën is pleased to confirm that record-breaking, nine-time World Rally Champion Sébastien Loeb is to attend this year's Goodwood Festival of Speed, which takes place from 26 - 29 June. Loeb will be making an unmissable one-off return in the DS 3 WRC, putting in dynamic appearances on the famous Goodwood Hillclimb, as well as the popular Forest Rally Stage on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 June.
The theme of the 2014 Goodwood festival is ‘Addicted to Winning - The Unbeatable Champions of Motor Sport', and with his unrivalled achievements in the FIA World Rally Championship, Loeb's appearance in the Citroën Total Abu Dhabi World Rally Team's mighty 300bhp DS 3 WRC is set to be one of the highlights of this year's event.
Lord March commented: "It's very exciting for all of us at Goodwood to be welcoming Sébastien Loeb back to the Festival of Speed. More than anyone, he epitomises our theme for the 2014 Festival of Speed -Addicted to Winning -The Unbeatable Champions of Motor Sport."
Sébastien Loeb and Citroën forged a winning combination early in the Frenchman's career. He claimed his first championship title in 2004 in the Citroën Xsara WRC, has 78 rally victories to his name, and in 10 seasons at the top of the sport clinched a record nine drivers' titles with Citroën.
Despite calling time on his WRC career, Loeb shows no sign of shying away from his addiction to winning, making the switch to the FIA World Touring Car Championship (WTCC). Loeb hopes to carry over the success he's built up with Citroën Racing, entering the team's 2014 WTCC campaign alongside four-time World Touring Car Champion Yvan Muller and Argentinian driver José Maria López.
Based on Citroën's C-Elysée saloon car, the C-Elysée WTCC utilises an evolution of the 1.6-litre turbocharged Citroën Racing engine from the DS 3 WRC, with performance boosted to deliver 380bhp.
The C-Elyseé WTCC was unveiled in full race trim at last year's Frankfurt Motor Show, complete with flared wheel arches, a huge front splitter and an eye-catching rear wing that makes the C-Elyseé look like a truly formidable competitor. For those yet to see it in the metal, Loeb's C-Elyseé WTCC will be on display at Goodwood on the Citroën UK stand in Row 1, opposite Goodwood House.
The Goodwood Festival of Speed is one of the biggest motoring events in the UK and a highlight on the global automotive calendar. Last year's event reached a record-breaking attendance of 196,000 spectators. Affectionately nicknamed "the largest motoring garden party in the world", the Goodwood Festival of Speed has always been a unique celebration of motor sport and all things automotive.
