Former FIA World Rallycross Teams' Champions Olsbergs MSE began the 2016 campaign with an all-new line-up, with rising stars Kevin Eriksson and Niclas Gronholm driving a pair of Ford Fiesta Supercars.

Having both won their respective national championships the previous season - Eriksson in Sweden and Gronholm in Finland - the youngest pairing on the grid set about learning in the early part of the year. Eriksson qualified for the semi-finals in the opening four rounds of the season, but it wasn't until the penultimate round at the Estering in Germany when the former RX Lites champion qualified for his first final of the campaign. In spectacular fashion, the young driver pulled off THAT move at the first corner, passing the pack around the outside of turn one to go viral in the following week, and score his first World RX victory, meaning that OMSE has won in each of the three years of World RX.

Gronholm qualified for the semi-finals at Holjes in Sweden and Trois-Rivieres in Canada as he increased his experience on the World RX circuits. The Finn missed the final round, where his seat was filled by the team's former driver, Reinis Nitiss. Having departed from Muennich Motorsport, Latvia's Nitiss raced an OMSE-run car in Barcelona and Latvia, but returned to the main team for the final round at Rosario in Argentina where he qualified sixth at the Intermediate Classification, and finished sixth in semi-final two.
