RC Motorsport reveal plans to field brand-new Corvette Stingray C7
RC Motorsport keeps aiming high in SUPERSTARSWORLD. The 2013 balance has been pretty positive so far for the team owned by Alessandro Salvati, especially in GTSPRINT. Their classic yellow Corvette Z06.R GTS3 is fighting for the overall lead with Roberto Del Castello, who cruised to one win at Monza and two podium finishes joined by experienced Piero Necchi. Heading towards Portugal, Del Castello has trimmed his gap in points to just 12 lengths from the overall leader, Porsche's Glauco Solieri.
"We're looking forward to the next four races - commented Roberto Del Castello - we had some ABS problems and they will definitely be fixed at Portimão so we hope to be a threat for wins again. This season we faced some hard competition from the local drivers that joined at Brno, Slovakia Ring and Zolder, so in the final part of the season we will try our best to stay in the hunt for the title".
The current work schedule of RC Motorsport is focused on Portimão (July 20, 21) but there is a clear vision of the future with a possible 2-car operation in GTSPRINT with the debut of the brand-new Corvette C7 Stingray model. The development, done by Callaway Competition will rely on RC Motorsport as a satellite operation in one of the most fascinating challenges in Grand Touring Car.
"The current collaboration between Callaway Competition and Giovanni Ciccone is improving and consolidating as time passes - said Team Manager Alessandro Salvati - the work done so far has given us great satisfactions and we want to aim even higher for the future. We're doing our best and I want to thank the team's drivers because they are doing a great job. We will be doing everything we can to win the title".
The RC Motorsport stable in the SUPERSTARS INTERNATIONAL SERIES is led by Roberto Benedetti, who is ready to be back behind the wheel of his Cadillac CTS-V to prepare for Portimão.
"We planned a test next week to improve the car's performance - told Benedetti - with the exception of Monza I only raced on unknown tracks for me and the Cadillac, which we overhauled completely, can be quicker than we saw so far. We have to sync the new upgrades with the rest of the car and that's will be the meaning of the test as we look forward to be 100% fit for Portugal".
