Rally Finland: Sordo doubtful for Rally Finland after testing smash
Dani Sordo is unlikely to take part in Rally Finland after fracturing a vertebrae in a testing crash with Hyundai Motorsport last week.
The Spanish driver, who currently sits fifth in the WRC drivers' championship, suffered a high-speed off while testing ahead of Rally Finland on the 28-31 July and spent Friday night and Saturday in hospital under observation.
After being diagnosed with a fracture vertebrae in his back Sordo was discharged from hospital in Finland and flew home to Spain in order to begin his recovery.
In an update from Hyundai, the manufacturer is still investigating the cause of the incident and won't start testing again until the 22nd July with Hayden Paddon in the pre-event tests as part of the build up to Rally Finland.
Sordo's crashed Hyundai i20 World Rally Car has been return to the manufacturer's base in Alzenau for analysis.
A decision on Sordo's participation at Rally Finland, he is due to drive for the Hyundai Motorsport N squad, will be made 'early next week' to give the Spanish driver an extended chance to recover from his injury.
