Rally Australia route revamped

Organisers of Kennards Hire Rally Australia (15-18 november) have made a number of changes to the route for this year's final round of the championship.

Sixteen of the rally's 24 stages are new or have been modified, with different roads and elements of previously-used stages making up the new tests.

The biggest itinerary change relates to the marathon Nambucca stage which was 49km long in 2017. Some sections of this test have been used to form the 28.84km ‘Argents Hill Reverse' stage. This will run on Saturday and counts as the longest stage of the rally.

In another change to the route, the rally-ending ‘Wedding Bells' stage will be run in the opposite direction to last year. There will also be a bigger jump at the Forests NSW Rally Village which hosts the finish podium presentation ceremony.

Saturday's ‘Raleigh Raceway Super Special Stage', which takes crews around a rallycross circuit, will be used twice during the event, while the ocean-side ‘Destination New South Wales Super Special Stage' in Coffs Harbour also keeps its place on the itinerary, with new obstacles, jumps and a water splash to hold the competitors' focus.

"We couldn't be more excited about the contest to come and the new route our sporting organisers have devised to test men and machines to the limits," event chairman Ben Rainsford said.
