Priaulx makes up for lost time with triple score on WTCR debut

Cyan Performance Lynk & Co’s Andy Priaulx took a fine fifth on his first start in a front-wheel-drive car for 19 years in Marrakech last Saturday.

Making his debut in the WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup presented by OSCARO, Priaulx followed up his Race 1 effort with P13 in Races 2 and 3.

“Overall it was a very good weekend as I scored points,” said the three-time FIA World Touring Car champion. “I had a very strong day on Saturday, as I qualified well and perhaps could have had a podium, but ended up fifth.

“On Sunday I never had a great feeling in qualifying, which is a shame. Then I missed out on Q2 and had traffic on my fastest lap, which cost me a few tenths, and that is a problem when a second covers the top 24 cars.”
