Porsche celebrates

Legendary racing cars meet famous race drivers at the world's biggest motor sports festival: The focus of this year's Goodwood "Festival of Speed," taking place for the 20th time from July 11 to July 14, is on the anniversary of "50 Years of 911." Spectators and car racing enthusiasts alike can look forward to demonstration runs with historical Porsche production vehicles and race cars from seven generations of the 911, driven, among others, by the two-time rally world champion Walter Röhrl and the two-time winner of the 24 hours of Le Mans and DTM champion Hans-Joachim Stuck.

From the Porsche Museum collection, the Le Mans vehicles 962, 911 GT1 '98 and 935/78 "Moby Dick" will participate in the car racing event on the compound of Lord March in West Sussex. In addition, the former Porsche factory race drivers Hans Herrmann and Richard Attwood will pilot the legendary Porsche 917 KH, starting number 23, in which they captured the trophy in the 24 hours of Le Mans for Porsche in 1970, the first of a total of 16 overall victories up till now. The 936 Spyder can be seen at Goodwood as well; with three victories in Le Mans, it is among the most successful Porsche race cars. The contingent from the Porsche Museum will be completed by five more vehicles: A 911 SC Safari, a "Paris Dakar" 911 Carrera 4x4, a 964 Supercup, a 917/30 and a 996 GT3 RSR will also be at the starting line in Goodwood. Alongside the Lohner-Porsche "Semper Vivus," the sports car maker will also send a very special original 911 from 1967 to Goodwood. This "911" has been accompanying the Porsche brand as ambassador at various international events, trade fairs, historic rallies and racing events on five continents since the onset of the year.
