Ogier on Rx: "It was so much fun"

Before claiming his fourth straight victory in the British round of the FIA World Rally Championship in Wales last weekend, WRC champion Sebastien Ogier joined 2016 FIA World Rallycross Champion Mattias Ekstrom as part of a two-day event at Munnich Airport for partners, media and friends of the EKS World RX team to sample its title-winning Audi S1 quattro.

The experience was Ogier's first of a World RX Supercar, and one he clearly enjoyed, commenting after a few laps on the improvised circuit; "It was so much fun trying this beast," before heading to Wales for last weekend's WRC event, where the Frenchman scored his sixth win of the season.

Ogier has already visited a World RX event, he was present at the Hockenheim round in May this year as a guest of the EKS team, where he met up with former WRC rivals Sebastien Loeb and Petter Solberg. Ekstrom said he gave Ogier the opportunity to drive the World RX Supercar car as a present for his championship winning performance this season. "It was a great pleasure to share my Audi S1 quattro with Seb," said the World RX champion. "After he became World Rally Champion, I was thinking about a nice present for him, and what's better for a race driver than trying a superb race car."

The EKS team now turns its focus to the final round of the FIA World Rallycross Championship next month, when Ekstrom and Heikkinen are aiming to win the World RX Teams' Championship title. They are currently 17 points ahead of reigning Teams' title holders Team Peugeot-Hansen.
