Nucita fast but out of luck in ERC Abarth Rally Cup

Andrea Nucita’s succession of fastest stage times on the opening round of the Abarth Rally Cup didn’t bring the ultimate reward the Italian had hoped for.

Co-driven by Michele Ferrara for the first time, Nucita was fastest in all but one of leg two’s eight stages as the Abarth Rally Cup joined the FIA European Rally Championship for the first time on Rally Islas Canarias.

However, a mechanical failure on leg one meant the Sicily-based driver had to settle for fourth in class. Nevertheless, he came away with €4000 in prize money and four Pirelli tyres thanks to the lucrative reward package offered by the Abarth Rally Cup organisers.

“I’m not happy for the result but I am more happy for the times on the stages,” said Nucita. “The feeling with the car was quite good and I hope I have a better result in the next race.”
