Nick Jones steps in for JRM in Argentina

Britain's Nick Jones will swap spanners for a steering wheel as he makes his maiden appearance in the FIA World Rallycross Championship at Rosario in Argentina.

The former British and European Rallycross race-winner will drive the JRM World RX Team Mini RX in the British squad's first visit to South America. Jones is a regular in World RX paddocks having worked for a number of teams, including JRM for the last two seasons as a lead mechanic, but the Rosario event will be his first as a driver.

"Now it's getting a bit closer I'm feeling a bit nervous, but that's a good thing I think," said Jones. "This is an amazing opportunity that JRM has given me. Guy (Wilks) showed what the car is capable of in Latvia. I think in Q3 his ideal time looking at the data would have been second overall. It was very wet, he had a couple of moments and ended up sixth quickest, but it proves that the car is very capable. Everybody at JRM has bent over backwards to improve this year. In the last three rounds we've made a lot of progress and it's exciting to be part of. To get to drive the car now too is even more special."

Following the release of the official entry list last week, Jones has been inundated with support. "As soon as it was announced, my phone went mental," he said. "It's just bonkers. "I just want to do what JRM want me to do, because you never know who's watching or what could happen in the future."
