New look for junior WRC in 2018
Preparations for the 2018 FIA Junior World Rally Championship took a big step forward on tuesday as organisers M-Sport hosted prospective competitors in Poland and unveiled the new base livery for the fleet of R2 fiestas that crews will drive.
M-Sport's European base in Krakow will be the operational hub for the 2018 series and the facility was used to host the 'Meet the Team' event. An impressive 14 drivers from 11 different countries took the opportunity to meet the organisers behind the popular one-make championship.
It was also a perfect opportunity for M-Sport to unveil the new base livery that will be applied to all of its Junior WRC cars. A striking yellow, blue and grey design incorporates the key colours of the championship partners but plenty of space has been left for drivers to add their own sponsors and design.
Junior WRC Manager, Maciej Woda, said: "With 14 prospective competitors from 11 different countries visiting our facility, the stage is set for another successful season. We're anticipating another year of close-fought competition as rallying's brightest young talents do battle for one of the biggest prizes in motorsport."
The best driver in the 2018 Junior WRC will win a Ford Fiesta R5 rally car, while the season will be contested across five events in Sweden, Corsica, Portugal, Finland and Turkey.
To spice up the end-of-season action, double championship points will be up for grabs in Turkey. As well as collecting points for their finishing positions, drivers will be awarded bonus points for fastest stage times.
