New GSX-R1000 concept set for UK debut at motorcycle live

Suzuki's new GSX-R1000 Concept is set for its UK debut, when doors open to this year's Motorcycle Live on Saturday 28 November at the NEC in Birmingham.

The GSX-R1000 is all-new, built from the ground up and developed alongside the firm's MotoGP project. A brand new engine utilises technology lifted from the GSX-RR machine, including new variable valve timing, for a broader spread of power across the rev range and increased top-end output.

The GSX-R1000 gets Suzuki's most advanced electronics package ever, and features launch control, 10-stage traction control, a quickshifter, ABS, Suzuki Drive Mode Selector, and ride-by-wire throttle bodies. There's also Showa balance free suspension front and rear, and a new frame.

Also on display at Motorcycle Live will be the new SV650, VanVan 200 and RM-Z250, along with a whole host of machines from both Suzuki's on and off-road ranges for 2016.

2015 also heralded the 30th anniversary of the GSX-R range and will see Suzuki showcasing some of the key GSX-R models from over the years. The special edition anniversary models for 2016 will also be on display, and an original GSX-R750F will be restored with new and refurbished parts on Suzuki's stand throughout the course of the show.

To celebrate Suzuki's ongoing commitment to its Vintage Parts programme, which helps owners of older Suzuki machines maintain and restore them, a host of classic bikes will be on display, including a T125 'Stinger', T20 'Hustler', the GSX-R1100L being restored by apprentices at Suzuki's apprentice centre, a GS1000S, and a GT250 X7, which has been restored by former popular ex-racer James Whitham.

Returning for the 2015 show is Suzuki's hospitality area, which will be providing free teas and coffees to show-goers. Show attendees will also be able to buy the latest Suzuki clothing and apparel in the retail shop that will feature on the stand too.

Suzuki GB Marketing Manager, Rob Cooper, said ahead of the show,"Motorcycle Live is possibly the biggest event in our calendar each year, and we can't wait to return to the NEC for this year's show. We're delighted to be able to showcase the new GSX-R1000 as well as the other models in our range for 2016, including the new SV650. We're also really pleased to be celebrating 30 years of the GSX-R, and want to thank the owners of all the GSX-R models we'll have as part of the display. Above all though, Motorcycle Live is a great opportunity for us to chat with our customers, answer their questions and listen to their feedback, and we welcome everyone to stop by the stand for a tea or coffee and a chat."
