Muller: WTCR is a good thing
The most successful driver in world touring car racing believes the new-for-2018 FIA World Touring Car Cup can be a hit.
Yvan Muller, the four-time WTCC champion, has highlighted the appearance of the TCR-specification cars and lower running costs as two key features.
"It's a good thing," Muller said of the exciting alliance between motorsport's world governing body the FIA, WTCR promoter Eurosport Events and WSC, owner of the TCR concept and trademark. "The future will tell me if I'm right or not but those cars are very nice and they cost less and that's what we need."
Muller retired from full-time driving at the end of 2016 and spent 2017 working as a special adviser to Polestar Cyan Racing during its double WTCC title winning season.
The inaugural WTCR season begins in Morocco from 7-8 April when the semi-permanent Circuit Moulay El Hassan hosts the action.
