MotoGP race winner Sete Gibernau to work with Dani Pedrosa
Former MotoGP frontrunner Sete Gibernau will act as an advisor for Honda's Dani Pedrosa for the 2017 season.
Gibernau, 44, attended the pre-season Sepang test last season, sparking rumours that he was set to join the Pedrosa camp - something he denied.
But the nine-time premier class race winner is present in Malaysia again ahead of the start of pre-season testing this week, and he has confirmed he will take on a riding coach role for Pedrosa this year.
Gibernau is a veteran of 11 seasons in 500cc/MotoGP, making his top class debut in 1997 and going to compete for the factory Suzuki and Ducati teams, as well as the works-supported Gresini Honda squad.
His last campaign came in 2009 [pictured below], when he came out of retirement to ride for the short-lived Onde 2000 Ducati squad before it folded mid-season due to financial difficulties.
Pedrosa follows a trend established by several other top MotoGP riders in recent years, with Wilco Zeelenberg and Luca Cadalora notably having worked alongside Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi respectively.
