Mission revenge: Muller plots WTCR bid with Lynk & Co Cyan Racing
Yvan Muller has found the perfect remedy for getting over the disappointment of missing out on the WTCR - FIA World Touring Car Cup presented by OSCARO: signing for Lynk & Co Cyan Racing to chase the title that he missed out on by three points in Macau yesterday.
Gabriele Tarquini got the better of Muller in a thrilling season showdown, which also formed part of the the Suncity Group Guia Race.
Following the event, Muller revealed he would partner Thed Björk for a second season of WTCR OSCARO action, albeit transferring from his own Cyan-assisted YMR squad to Lynk & Co Cyan Racing to drive the all-new Lynk & Co 03 TCR.
"Apparently I am still fast and Gabriele doesn't want me to retire so I will be with Lynk & Co for next year," said the 49-year-old four-time world champion. "I have been very happy working with Cyan Racing and to continue our journey in this new programme with Lynk & Co is ideal. We will continue to push hard for the World title in 2019."
Cyan Racing cooperated with Muller's eponymous team in WTCR OSCARO this season, running two Hyundai i30 N TCRs that sported the colour code of Cyan: 100-0-0-0. The partnership resulted in YMR winning the WTCR - FIA World Touring Car Cup presented by OSCARO for Teams.
"Yvan is a key part in our assault on the 2019 FIA WTCR and our cooperation with him and his team, Yvan Muller Racing, during 2018 has been invaluable," said Cyan Racing CEO Christian Dahl. "The programme has enabled us to make the necessary preparations in order to hit the ground running next year. To claim the teams' title in 2018 fills us all with confidence for the challenges to come."
Lynk & Co Cyan Racing has confirmed it will reveal its third 2019 signing in due course.
