Meeke and Breen for Corsica

Kris Meeke and Craig Breen will bid to carry forward their podium-winning form into the Tour de Corse - Rallye de France (29 september - 2 october) after being confirmed on wednesday for the island asphalt classic.

The duo starred in their last WRC outing with the Abu Dhabi Total World Rally Team in Finland in July. Northern Ireland's Meeke led for almost every kilometre to score his third win in Citroën's DS 3, while Breen claimed his maiden WRC podium.

Breen replaces Stéphane Lefebvre, who was due to drive in Corsica, as the Frenchman continues his recovery from his terrifying accident in Germany last month.

It will be Meeke's fourth Corsica appearance, dating back to 2005, and his first all-asphalt event since the corresponding rally 12 months ago when he finished fourth (below). Breen has tackled the event for the last four years, his best result in 2013 when he finished fourth in what was then a European championship round.

Breen reacted to the confirmation on Twitter. "So thankful to everybody for this chance for me and Scott (co-driver, Martin) to show what we can do," said the Irishman, who will warm up for the event with an outing on the British Championship Rally Isle of Man (15 - 17 September) in a DS 3 R5.

The Corsica outing provides Breen with another opportunity to further his claims for a full-time seat alongside Meeke when Citroën returns to the WRC next year after sitting out this season to develop its 2017 World Rally Car.
