McRae fan's fundraising tribute

A rally fan from Scotland hopes his tribute to 1995 world rally champion Colin McRae will help him complete a marathon charity fund-raising challenge later this month.

Paisley bus driver Mark McKay and his friend and co-driver Lisa McShane plan to visit all 42 Senior Football Clubs in Scotland in just 24 hours.

They will start at Ross County F.C in Dingwall, and finish at St Mirren's ground in Paisley after covering 862 miles.

The pair will make the journey in a Ford Focus, bought 12-months ago for £200, that McKay has transformed into a replica of the World Rally Car McRae campaigned in the WRC.

"I have been working in all weathers to repair and replace every running part on the car, upgrade suspension, brakes and engine, and make it resemble the car that Colin McRae drove. It certainly attracts some admiring looks," McKay said.

The journey will begin at 1615hrs on 15 September, exactly ten years after Colin, his son Johnny and two family friends lost their lives in a tragic helicopter accident.

McKay hopes to raise £5000 for the charity 'Who Dares Cares', created by two former soldiers to help people affected by Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
